The church of the Knights Templar Perugia
The church of Saint Bevignate is a
monument of extraordinary interest: it is the only church in
Italy, and one of the few in Europe, that keeps an entire
fresco cycle dedicated to the Templars, the famous
monks-knights of the Crusades.
Recent restorations, finally allowing
access of the church to the public, unearthed a Roman site
under the floor which can be visited.
Besides the visit of the church, it is
possible to organize tastings in the attached building, the
previous monastery (now a private property), anciently lived
by the Templars.
The Church of Saint
Bevignate, one of the most evocative monuments of Umbria, is
set in the near surroundings of Perugia.
The ticket entrance is:
€ 2,50 for groups of minimum 15 persons.
