A m e l i a

One of the oldest Umbrian towns, Amelia lays on the top of a rocky hill overlooking the Tiber valley. Its ancient origins are still documented by the enormous cyclopean city walls that date back to the 6th century b.C., formed by huge stones.

Besides the town walls, several monuments testify the importance of Amelia during the Roman age, such as the famous bronze statue of “Germanico”, recently found in the surrounding countryside and currently kept in the Archeological Museum.
