T E R N I 

Terni is quite different from the other Umbrian towns because of its position in the valley, and because the area was heavily industrialized in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Most glorious was its weapon-factory. For this reason the area was heavily bombed at the end of World-War II.

Still, a visit can be surprisingly interesting, including classical and industrial archaeology, ancient and modern painting, elegant 16th century palaces and the urban revolution which occurred after the Second World War.

Near Terni, the archaeological site of the ancient roman town of Carsulae is an interesting alternative to the visit of the modern town.
