Home-town of Saint Francis, peacefully set on the slopes of the Subasio Mountain, Assisi is famous all over the Christian world.

The Basilica of Saint Francisis one of Europe’s most important sanctuaries and undoubtedly the cultural highlight of the entire region.

Pratical Informations

(*) A guided tour inside the Basilica with the explanation by the guide in person of the world famous frescoes (Giotto, Cimabue, Martini, Lorenzetti, etc…) is only permitted using headsets.

No visits are allowed on Sundays or any other religious feast-day.

(**) The little monastery on the Subasio Mountain (Eremo delle Carceri, the “Hermitage”) and first convent of the poor Claires (Church of St Damiano) cannot be reached by coach, it is necessary to rent taxi-minivans.

The guide can be met at Parking A (-San Pietro) or Parking B (Porta Nuova), in this case the visit will be downhill.

It is preferable to contact the guide at least a few hours before the visit.
